To commemorate the 68th death anniversary of the legendary Sikh poet and scholar Bhai Vir Singh, a special exhibition showcasing rare relics of Guru Teg Bahadur was inaugurated in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Held at the Bhai Vir Singh Sahitya Sadan, the event paid tribute to Bhai Vir Singh’s towering legacy in Sikh literature, culture, and religious revival. Born in 1872, Bhai Vir Singh was a key figure in the Sikh renaissance, whose writings and institutions continue to shape Sikh identity.
Highlights of the event included:

Display of sacred relics of Guru Teg Bahadur, preserved by the descendants of Bhai Roop Chand, a devoted follower of the Guru.

Bhog Sehaj Paath and kirtan organized in remembrance of Bhai Sahib’s contributions.

Release of new publications under the ‘Navi Paneeri’ series, including works on the Akali movement and Sikh Gurus’ biographies, by Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan.

Gursharan Kaur, wife of former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh, unveiled a commemorative edition of Khalsa Samachar, gifting the first copy to Bhai Vir Singh’s descendants.
Speaker Sandhwan praised Bhai Vir Singh as an “eternal writer” whose words rekindled cultural pride and unity during times of national decline. He urged the youth to draw inspiration from Bhai Sahib’s timeless works and values.
The event drew significant public attention, with devotees and literature lovers expressing deep reverence for both Guru Teg Bahadur and Bhai Vir Singh’s legacy.
