181 Kg Poppy Husk, Psychotropic Pills Seized in Kiratpur Sahib; 3 Held

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Ropar police have arrested three individuals and seized 181 kg of poppy husk along with 240 tablets of psychotropic drugs in separate incidents in and around Kiratpur Sahib.

According to Ropar SSP Guljeet Singh Khurana, the arrests are part of an intensified district-wide campaign against drug abuse and smuggling. Police have been conducting routine checks at various locations to curb the drug menace.

During one such operation, Hardeep Singh, a resident of Gondpur Jai Chand village in Una, and Abhishek, from Amroh village in Talwara, were apprehended in Kiratpur Sahib with a large quantity of poppy husk in their possession.

In a separate case, Babandeep Singh of Ramgarh Manda village in the Morinda area was arrested after police recovered 240 psychotropic drug pills from him.

All three individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

As part of the ongoing ‘Project Sampark,’ police officials also emphasized their commitment to spreading awareness among the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
